I bothers me how dads aren’t in the picture in a lot of kids books. I like The Interrupting Chicken by Stein because it’s a dad putting his daughter to bed (also, it’s just cute).

He died when I was just over a year and a half old and I’m sure it broke her heart to answer those questions. When mom died, Norah asked all kinds of hard questions about death and such too… it doesn’t help that I’m sick with a life-threatening disease, and it makes me SO sad to think of her growing up without me or Dave around :-(
